M.K. Publishers is the personal publishing house initiated in 1987 by Mikhail Karasik, an artist, publisher, curator, one of the main initiators, ideologues and propagandists of the artist’s book in Russia.
Mikhail Karasik works above all in the form of the artist’s book – especially the lithographed book, although in recent years he has published a number of books combining lithography, photography, silkscreen and author’s offset printing. To date he has produced over 70 artist’s books and book-objects.
Mikhail Karasik has curated a number of exhibitions of contemporary artist’ book both in Russia and abroad, publishes catalogues and anthologies on the theory and practice of the artist’s book and Russian avant-garde art of the early 20th century.
M.K. Publishers has brought Russian artist’s books to international art fairs regularly since 1997.
