The Gallery was founded in Amsterdam in 1984. From the very beginning it has been my aim to concentrate on art in editions, mainly conceptual art, especially artists’ books. It is of great importance to work with artists and publishers, to be aware and show the relationship between edition works and the artist’s oeuvre. The artist’s oeuvre is the most meaningful context to understand and appreciate artists’ editions. In 1995 I started to collaborate with the Santa Monica based printer and publisher Jacob Samuel. He has been the former master printer of Sam Francis and the Lapis Press in Los Angeles. Along with the artists books this collaboration has strengthened a special concentration on artworks as a series and sequence of prints. Recent publications: a book on the woodcuts of the Leipzig based artist Christiane Baumgartner with an essay by Jeremy Lewison. As a gallery we publish special folders and catalogues on the artists’works in our program.
